Gary Chan

Founder & Director

Gary is a passionate guitarist and musician. He believes in the power of music to connect people and enlighten people’s lives, and has made it a mission to use music as a tool for empowerment, growth, and joy.

Gary holds a degree in psychology from University of California. Upon graduation, he worked as a behavioral therapist where he designed and implemented programs that cater to the unique needs and strengths of each child. Alongside, he worked as a session guitarist and played at various music gigs and shows with different musicians. During this early stage of his career, he was inspired that music has the power to fill the gap where words fail to do so. With this realization, he founded Let There Be Music, a music education center where equal music learning opportunities are provided to all children and teens, as well as adults.

In addition to his professional work, Gary Chan is a passionate advocate for integrating music into the lives of kids with special needs. With more than ten years of experience in the field of music and children education, he has seen firsthand the transformative power of music in fostering communication, expression, and emotional regulation in children with diverse abilities. He believes that every child has the right to access the benefits of music, and has dedicated his career to creating inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate musical experiences for children of all abilities.
